Stubbington Fayre 2003.
August bank holiday marked the climax of the many
months hard work and planning that had gone into this years Stubbington
Fayre. The day started at 6:00am with the marking out of the pitches,
setting up of the arena and many other tasks that had to be performed
before the stall holders and public arrived.
Opened by the mayor of Fareham, Stubbington Fayre
proved another huge success, a large number of charities and voluntary
organisations benefited from a fantastic attendance and a great
family day out. A few of the many events included Train Rides, Children's
play areas, a fun fair, arena events, over 100 stalls, games and
displays, refreshments, street procession and classic cars. The
Donkey Derby was as popular as ever with the places filled very
early on.
The only dampener on the day was the circulation
of a number of forged £20 notes by persons unknown, a very
cowardly and mindless act given that most of the recipients were
charities. Many thanks to Fareham Police who provided a fantastic
response and support. If anyone has any information regarding this
please contact Fareham Police.
